Energinet’s Hydrogen Infrastructure Maturation Project explores converting the existing 92 km FE-II gas pipeline to transport 100% hydrogen. The initiative includes developing a socio-economic business case, designing pipeline infrastructure, and securing stakeholder agreements. The project is coordinated with Gasunie for cross-border hydrogen transport and with Evida and Gas Storage Denmark for integration and storage solutions.
CCP supported Energinet as Owner’s Engineer for the conversion of the existing FE-II steel gas pipeline to 100% hydrogen transport. CCP provided technical advisory services covering cost-benefit and risk analyses to support investment decisions, as well as comprehensive pipeline integrity mapping and documentation reviews to assess conversion readiness.
CCP further advised on material compatibility and welding screening criteria, ensuring technical robustness and compliance with hydrogen service requirements across the project.
